Zapier integration (Basic): Actions

Learn how to automate operations with contacts in TaxDome using Zapier actions. Use triggers from other apps to create, update, or find contacts in TaxDome seamlessly. Here, we will demonstrate how to create an integration between Google Forms and TaxDome via Zapier.

TaxDome actions, explained

In Zapier terminology, an action is an event that is performed when a trigger has occurred

To make the magic work, you should select an application to execute some triggers. Then, an event will occur in TaxDome. This is like condition logic: if  this (trigger) happened in app A, then that (action) will happen in TaxDome.

Three types of actions are available for TaxDome in Zapier:

  • Create contact: This will create a contact when the trigger is executed.
  • Update contact: This will update a contact when the trigger is executed.
  • Find contact: This will find contacts that match the search terms. If the contact isn't found, it can be created.

When setting up TaxDome actions, you can use the following fields in contacts: Contact Name, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number, Street Address, City, Province, ZIP, Country, Company Name, and Tags.

nota

Note! The Tags field is available only for the Create contact and Update contact actions. You can specify only tags existing in your account TaxDome. If a contact already has a tag assigned and another one is specified through the Update contact trigger in Zapier, the existing one will be removed.

Make Zap with TaxDome actions

We’ll show how to create a Zap using a TaxDome action. For example, filling out a form in Google Forms will automatically add a contact in TaxDome. You can choose a different app instead of Google Forms if needed; it's just an example.

Step 1. Create Zap

First, you need to create a zap and give it a name. Here's how:

1. Click plus at the top left on the Zapier home page, then Create and select Zaps from the opened drop-down menu.

2. On the opened page, click  Untitled Zap and Rename. Name your Zap short but clearly, e.g., Add new contact to TaxDome.

Step 2. Configure trigger

The second step is to configure the trigger. Here's how:

1. Click Select the event that starts your Zap. Type Google Forms in the search bar and click on it to select. You can select any other application from the list.

2. In the right sidebar, select a trigger event, e.g., New form response

3.  Connect your Google account. Learn more about the account's connection in Zapier documentation.

4. Haz clic en Continuar.

5. Select a pre-created form in your Google account, such as New client registration, with fields from which to add information when creating a contact in TaxDome ( step 3).

6. Haz clic en Continuar.

7. Test the trigger with the sample records. The system will check if the forms from your Google account are available. Learn more about Zapier testing.

Step 3. Configure action

The third step is to configure the TaxDome action. Here's how:

1. Click  Select the event for your Zap to run.

2. Select TaxDome as an app that you want to create a connection with.

3. In the right sidebar, select an action event. For example, you have a Google form your potential clients fill out. You want a new contact with the specified information to be added to TaxDome when filling out this form. In this case, select the Create contact action.

4. Connect your TaxDome account. Learn more about the account's connection in Zapier's official documentation.

5. Haz clic en Continuar.

6. In the Configure step of the sidebar, map the form's fields to the available TaxDome fields for the new account creation.

7. Haz clic en Continuar.

8. Test your integration. Learn more about  Zapier testing.

Step 4. Publish Zap

To make your newly created Zap work, you need to publish it. Click  Publish and wait for the popup that tells you that the integration was successful.

El estado de la integración (activada o desactivada) se mostrará en la página Mis Zaps

Now, when people fill out the form, their data will be automatically added to TaxDome.
